Injury appeal bid highlights the proof needed for separate income losses
Rennie Bissoon’s Trinidad and Tobago application concerns earnings from employment and a weekend business. Permission has not been granted.
An injured worker who earned money both as a driver and salesman and as a weekend market vendor is seeking permission to appeal to the Privy Council over his damages. Rennie Bissoon’s application concerns an accident while unloading cargo for his employer in July 2014.
According to the official case summary, the trial award covered future employment earnings and care. The judge treated market-vending profits as unproved and pre-trial employment earnings as inadequately claimed. Bissoon challenged the treatment of these separate income losses.
The summary records that the Trinidad and Tobago Court of Appeal dismissed the damages appeal in June 2026 and refused conditional leave in July. The Privy Council application was issued on 16 September. At the 4 November source check, the page still recorded an application lodged, without a permission decision.
Permission-stage preview, first recorded by Lanza on 4 November; the application was issued on 16 September. Based only on the official case summary. Underlying judgments and evidence were not independently checked; the Board has made no merits ruling in this listing.
